Newark Under
Lock down.

Newark, NJ. (ZWN)
Report by Race Barrington

Newark, New Jersey, normally a thriving, industrious city is ghost-like. Streets are empty. Stores are closed. This is following yesterdays revelation that the USA's first case of animated Undead had hit these shores. And ground zero was Newark.

Dock Worker Bernard Hill was found wandering in a mortified state earlier this week, Police are now frantically searching for his attacker whom has become known as the 'New Jersey Zombie.' Police are working on the theory that it would not have wandered in a linear path. Thus its radius would be restricted to 10-15 miles. They have cordoned off all main arteries to and from the city, including the New Jersey Turnpike and Holland Tunnel. This has added frustration to an already terrified city.

A search of the Elizabeth Channel has so far proven fruitless. It is possible it could have wandered off the side of the dock and into the river. If so, it would probably sink but stay animated and docile until disturbed. However, in a few days would become bloated and eventually rise to the surface again. Because of this, Police boats are constantly patrolling the channel.
All major arteries to and from the city are being closed today until
further notice.

Curfew imposed
Tonight, Newark faces it's first major curfew in it's history as a city. This is partially in an effort to stem the wave of panic, fear and paranoia endemic in the city. Yesterday, 35 year old male Terry Headly was set upon and beaten to an unconscious state, by a mob who saw him staggering in a Zombie like fashion. Unfortunately, he was simply drunk.

Local resident Ray Vargas said
"If you are not driving a car, people view you with suspicion. You're walking on your own and people clear out of the way, it's weird....they think your a (expletive) Zombie or something"

Authorities have appealed for calm tonight. Police Spokesperson Capt. Ted Dwyer said "We urge citizens
to not approach it if it is seen, but to call 911 immediately."

A special government help line has been set up to report anyone you suspect of showing symptoms of the Necro- Mortosis Virus The Government has released the following anonymous tip line to call:
1 800 555 3219

We will bring you further details as they develop.
