The Senate has stalled action on a $175 million spending bill that would fund tax incentives to encourage cremation, and discourage traditional burial of the deceased. This was the controversial bill aimed at limiting the chance of Undead risings throughout the US. Although there has never been any officially recorded incidents of the Undead actually reanimating after burial in US Cemeteries, it has become an increasing concern due to the ongoing threat of the Necro-Mortsois virus.
Some Republicans, and a handful of Democrats, object to the bill because of its total cost. Others are riled by the earmarks and are urging Obama to reject the package in keeping with his campaign pledge to clean up the spending process. "He ought to go ahead and veto this bill," said House Minority Leader John B. Biehner (R-Ohio). "And Republicans on Capitol Hill will work with him to sustain his veto." Although cemetery risings may not be an occurrence in the USA, they have significantly increased in much of South America, Eastern Europe and Asia.Capitalizing on such occurances and fuelled by the fears of loved ones, a thriving industry has grown offering 'secure' coffins and 'exit proof' caskets. However, these alternatives are considered too expensive for most people. |
