A
palpable pressure has been simmering for weeks in Miami. Frustration
at the Police and National Guards strong arm tactics to clear the
city of it's undead infestation. There are currently 23 cases of 'mistaken
identity' shootings under investigation by the Police Watchdog and
Commission Authorities. Everyone's senses are on high alert. Security
forces are working double even triple shifts. When a shadow is seen
in the dimly lit Miami suburb streets, it could be innocent, it could
be an armed looter, or it could be an undead. Seconds to decide are
all the authorities have. And sometimes, sadly, a wrong identification
is made.
Violence at local Church
The violence began this morning in South Miami as National Guard troops
conducted an operation to neutralize up to a dozen reanimates, rumored
to be concealed in the basement of a local church. Robert Wilkerson,
Pastor of “The Divine Write,” a small storefront church
off South West 28th Street. Pastor Wilkerson was claiming to local
residents to be able to reverse the “Necro-Mortosis” infection
and reanimation process through the power of prayer, 'Cleansing the
body and welcoming the soul back into its home'. His church had constructed
a makeshift corral in the recreation room where he practiced daily
healing rituals.
Utility repairs crews working to restore power to the area after
a recent blackout sighted the apparent undead and reported them to
authorities.
National Guard
According to eyewitness reports, National Guard troops responding
to the call encountered “significant” resistance in the
building from parishioners who allegedly attempted to block the access
to the church corral. . Pastor Wilkerson and five parishioners were
arrested during the operation.
In a bizarre twist, It was then discovered that the corralled undead
were infarct church workers heavily disguised in make up to appear
undead. Whilst the motivation is unclear. it would appear that financial
gain and notoriety from the apparent 'cleansing of the undead' would
be a suitable motive.
It was during the mayhem of the protesting by over zealous parishioners
that tragedy struck.
Protests and violence
Troops leaving the building were greeted by a large crowd of civilians
who assembled after hearing the sounds of gunfire. The situation began
to deteriorate rapidly as Pastor Wilkerson was led from the church
in handcuffs. Rocks and bottles were thrown by some demanding the
Pastor’s release. According to witnesses, the troops were attempting
to reenter the building to escape the crowd when a young boy allegedly
jumped from behind the church’s concrete wheelchair accessibility
ramp and shouted at the soldiers in a manner resembling an undeads
guttural growl. A riot erupted after a panicked soldier opened fire
on the boy with his M-16 machine gun, killing him instantly, and then
shot the boy’s mother as she ran screaming from the crowd toward
her son.
Additional police and National Guard forces responding to the scene
were unable to contain the riot from spreading from the immediate
area, and by noontime, a thirty block area of South Miami was littered
with burning vehicles, at least fourteen building were on fire, and
wide spread looting broke out.
Checkpoint problems
To confound the situation further, additional fire and emergency vehicles
from outside the quarantine zone, although requested, were delayed
at government checkpoints for up to 30 minutes. The apparent arrangement
with local emergency authorities is to allow emergency vehicles a
'fast pass' that takes less than 2 minutes to process, much like Canadian
and US emergency vehicles have at the Canada/US border. The system
was not adhered to in this case. Consequently, many fires that may
have been held under control, were left to spread.
By 2 PM, the violence in South Miami continued to spread, and three
other similar riots broke out in North Miami, Liberty City, and Wynwood.
Police and fire departments, already undermanned due to a limited
evacuation of city employees with sick or incapacitated family members,
were soon overwhelmed and ordered all personnel involved in Mortosis
suppression operations to report to the nearest police station for
reassignment.
State of civil emergency
At a 4 PM news conference, Florida Governor, Charlie Crist, declared
a “state of civil emergency in the Miami Metropolitan area separate
from the Mortosis Emergency already in effect.” “Effective
immediately, I am ordering a temporary suspension of all civilian
evacuations from the Quarantine Zone in order to make additional National
Guard resources available to assist Miami law enforcement. This suspension
is temporary in nature, and all evacuation routes will be reopened
as soon as civil order is restored.”
Zombie World News was forced to relocate its offices from its North
Miami headquarters to Coral Gables, after rioters attempted to break
into the building’s commissary, apparently searching for food.
Two news teams were attacked and had their electronic equipment stolen.
