Three Philadelphia Art Institute students were arrested yesterday for their roles in the recent zombie hysteria sweeping the city. This spate of zombie sightings throughout Philadelphia have been declared a hoax by police and city officials. Philadelphia has been in a state of anxiety since the recent vigilante shooting of a homeless man by local businessman Pete Hester. The victim, Paul Stevenson, was a known transient and amphetamine addict. It is claimed by Hester that he thought he was being attacked by an undead. This, Hester insists, was due to Stevenson's disheveled appearance. This act caused shockwave's throughout Philadelphia, triggering a series of copycat vigilante attacks and missing person cases. However, details are beginning to emerge that suggest the inflated homicide rate and cases of missing persons were 'not accurate' according to City Police commissioner Sylvester Johnson today. Who went on to say "In fact, most of the missing persons cases are typically people who just want to disappear for while. You see lots of that in any big city. As for the rise in homicides, we believe that is largely caused by the increased tension within the city, supported by a panic buying of guns. When people are on edge, they can do regretful things. In a situation that is in many ways beginning to mirror the New Jersey zombie case, there have been reports of shootings all over the city, they have been targeted at drunks, drug users and anyone who looks like they are staggering, shuffling or otherwise unsure of their footing." |

hoax All three arrested were all released on bail today pending formal charges. Bernard A. Pascal, a leading prosecutor for the city of Philadelphia told ZWN today, that brothers Benjamin and Marcus Wilde (24 & 21), and Holly Rutland (22) could be cited under the 'Patriot' act, and potentially charged with conspiracy to cause mayhem and panic. If convicted, it carries a sentence of up to 30 years in prison. Pascal concedes that the three were not responsible for all of the incidents arising from the initial shooting by Hester, but he does stress that they were the catalyst to further aggravate the situation. Dress up: "It's thoroughly reprehensible" added Pascal. "You wouldn't dress up as terrorists and walk round New York after 9/11 would you? so why is it any less insensitive to dress as zombies when the whole country is on virus alert?." |
