Tragedy came to the small Texas town of Terrell this weekend.
On Friday, a small group of high schoolers reportedly skipped afternoon classes to hang out together in a remote Terrell wheat field. Sadly, the decision turned fatal. At approximately 2:45pm Tony Andrews 18, Gena Greats 17, Bobby Swanson 17, and Kelly Hopkins 18, were assaulted by a lone middle aged woman who was in an advanced state of necrosis.
Tony Andrews was savagely bitten as he tried to defend himself from the frenzied attack. The rest of the party tried to intervene but ultimately ran and managed to escape. Their whereabouts were not discovered until later that evening when a search by concerned relatives revealed a tragic scene.
All three were found infected and bearing traumatic wounds to their bodies. Greats and Hopkins were in an advanced stage of zombification and severe lower body and leg trauma disabled their ability to move far. Swanson retained some mobility.
Only one member of the party was uninfected. Tyler Long, age 17, had managed to separate himself from the rest of the party and contacted local police.
 UDT (Undead Dispatch Team) along with cadaver dogs were called in to hunt the original attacker. She was traced to the home of the Kenning Family.
Upon entering the home UDT members discovered 15 year old Joey Kenning feeding his zombified mother a live animal (canine).
The undead corpse was neutralized by the UDT team.
Although UDT authorities did not release any official statement, local police officer james Benning did tell ZWN that Kenning's son Joey had hidden his severely infected mother from authorities for several days. This was apparently out of fear of quarantine. "He heard bad things about what they do in quarantine facilities. How they never come back. Some of it's true, some just stories. but he didn't want his Mom to go there."
Kenning had attempted to board his Mother up in their home. However, whilst he was attending school she managed to break out and attack the four teens.
There is to be an arraignment for Joey Kenning later this month. Authorities have not yet decided on the charges, but social services are working with police to find the best resolution.
The Kenning home is under quarantine.
It is not known at this time where Kenning first contracted necro-mortosis, but Texas has remained virus free through all of 2011.
