As many of you know, ZWN was recently the victim of a Necro-Terrorist attack. Thankfully no one was injured, though it did cause a disruption in the network’s ability to bring you continuing coverage of the plague. However, had the attack been successful a number of people could have become infected with Necro-Mortosis. There is also speculation that the attack may have been brought about by my comments on the organization known as the Templars of God. While it grieves me that my words may have placed others in jeopardy, such attacks will not stop me from doing my job. I’ve had it with these and other terrorists that see Necro- Mortosis as a weapon, blind to the awesome destructive power such use would bring in the long run. This network, ZWN, has taken a stand against them by reporting the facts and in standing by columnists and reporters such as Race Barrington, Kim Harwell and many others as well as the humble scribblings of yours truly. Now, I ask that others stand up to the roll call and make themselves heard. Scot Chierbeck, get to your feet. Stop the incendiary half-truths, half-lies and sensationalism. You are in a unique position to redeem yourself from your past by turning your talents and resources to the real stories. If you would put half the energy into getting the real, factual stories and information that you do in your current creative journalism endeavors you could become a formidable weapon in the fight against Necro-Terrorism and the plague itself. You gave a forum to the Templars, and a week later they commit an act of Necro-terrorism. In short, these mental midgets played you for the fool, Mr. Chierbeck. They used the publicity they received from your show to springboard into a household name by following it with their cowardly and insidious attack on this network. For your own sake as well as that of us all, I sincerely hope you are working with the FBI and Homeland Security in their efforts to find the Templars. Additionally, the Fox channel needs to stand up and start verifying and authenticating your show. You’re playing with their reputation as well, and I only hope they realize this before the American public does. President Bush, I respectfully request you come to the front and center as well. It’s time we as a nation come to terms openly and publicly with the dangers here at home. We need more and better laws specifically designed to combat Necro-Mortosis and Necro-Terrorism. Perhaps your successor will take this issue more seriously. As it is, you could stand up and do your part by publicly adding the Templars of God to the list of recognized terrorist organizations and take their investigation and eradication to a fully federal level. And then there’s Castro. Ah, Fidel. But not just you. I address this to all dictators and struggling governments suffering infection within your borders. The United States, Great Britain, France, Germany and a host of other nations have extended offers of aid in dealing with the plague. I understand national pride as much as you, but it helps to continue to have a nation in which to take pride in. You can be selective to a point, but to keep wearing the emperor’s new clothes while your nations die and reanimate around you not only decimates your countrymen but creates a breeding ground the rest of the world could suffer from as well. Sometimes, you need help to stand up. And finally, to the American people. It’s time you stood up as well. Write your congressmen and make your vote for their reelections contingent on their actions in strengthening our stance against the plague. When television, radio or the print and electronic media outlets stoop to sensationalism in their reporting of the plague and the dead, tell them about it in the same way. Contact their sponsors and let them know how you feel as well. No one likes the “B” word, but nothing gets a point across to corporations and media like a good, old-fashioned grass-roots boycott. If you have any information, even the smallest bit, about individuals and groups like the Templars you need to notify the proper authorities. Homeland Security and the FBI have many channels for you to use that will allow you to remain completely anonymous. Lastly, support those government agencies, elected officials and media outlets that are doing something or keeping you informed without bias or regard to the Nielson family. Let them know the same way you tell those that you feel aren’t doing their jobs; write, call, e-mail them and let them know you appreciate their honesty and integrity. As for me, I’ll be back again next week. My contributions are nothing in comparison to so many that bring you the real stories of the plague. Many of these men and women have traded any hope of sleep without nightmares for the rest of their lives to bring you the news and information you need about the plague right from the source. A few have even given their lives. Don’t let their sacrifices go in vain. Stay informed and away from trash journalism, be wary, write your congressmen.
