Many of our USA readers will not know that SOTD is not the first time this crew of talented actors and writers have been together. Simon Pegg (Shaun), Nick Frost (Ed), Edgar Wright (Director/Writer), Jessica Stevenson (Shaun's chirpy combat jacket wearing friend from the old days), Even the guy who plays his room mate. They are all an ensemble cast of a wonderful British sitcom called 'Spaced'. Despite it's popularity, they only filmed two 7 episode series. In fact, it's through one particular episode of 'Spaced' that we see the seeds of SOTD. There is a very funny Zombie sequence in episode 3 which apparently inspired them, to make Shaun. Spaced is now available on DVD in the USA. Both entire seasons plus a third disc of extras.....well worth it!!

Spaced aside - There is also a very funny show called Nick Frosts 50,000 volts. Nick played best mate 'Ed' in SOTD. This series includes is a 30 minute mockumentary with Simon Pegg on 'Zombie hunting techniques.' This is available in the USA on Netflix. Or you can catch it on youtube.com. Edgar Wright is directing Marvel Comics new screen adaption - 'Antman' Simon Pegg wil be seen in the much anticipated J.J. Abrams new Star Trek movie playing Scotty.
