Britain To Deploy 5,000 Extra Troops To Haitian 'Undead Zone'
Blair Calls For Increased Response From Other UN Members

European Commission emergency meeting - Brussels (AP)
Posted: January, 2006

"Frankly, Europe could do more" That was the strongly worded message from UK Prime Minister Tony Blair today. "Too long have we been dilatory. Hoping that our neighbors would take care of their own problems. Hoping that their problems remained their and not ours." Blair addressed the council with impassioned vigor. "This simply has to stop. It has to end. We are not just the 'European Union.' We are part of a greater union. A union of the world."

With that message, didactic in purpose. Blair then pledged the deployment of a further 5,000 troops to help purge the undead presence in Haiti. However, none of these troops are from the stage one withdrawal from Basra, Iraq announced last week. These are fresh troops who will support the 1500 UK contingent already based in Haiti. British Home Secretary John Reid has previously stressed that returning soldiers are to play an ancillary role of home defense only.

Haiti
The military 'cleansing' of the undead infested hot zones continues. Thousands of villagers from towns surrounding Port-au-Prince and Port-de-Paix have been rescued by Peacekeeper troops so far. A total of 15,000 Peacekeeper troops are stationed on the island. At present. 356 have been killed in action to date. However, major gains have been made in removing the undead threat from Haiti's coastal regions. This is considered a vital first stage to reclaiming haiti from the grip of the necro virus.

Following the emergency meeting, Euro Commission President José Manuel Barroso is to participate in the opening ceremony of the two-day "Citizens of the Earth" conference on global ecological governance in Paris. Those members present will focus on the present Undead plague, as well as draw up a list of the other greatest threats to our planet, particularly factors which disrupt the balance of society. It intends to set priorities, notably to strengthen international governance regarding the Necro-Mortosis virus.

The impact of the undead virus on Europe is sporadic. Southeastern countries such as Romania, Hungry, Serbia and to the west, Serbia are all heavily infested. Spain, France, Germany, Belgium and Italy all have outbreaks, although they are considered modest and controllable. Britain has had less than 20 confirmed cases at this time.
