Undead Seen Roaming Belfast Streets
Belfast, N. Ireland, UK
Posted: 30th, Aug. 2009

Field Correspondant - M. Dunn (AP)

ZWN are getting unconfirmed reports of unrest throughout the streets in Belfast tonight. The military are currently moving into the area and the local police service is on the verge of declaring martial law. This comes only 3 days after local police announced they would be lifting the quarantine. Sketchy reports are confirming several undead have spread beyond the quarantine exclusion zone, and into the area deemed declassified. ZWN has no information on casualties yet but a local spokesperson for the emergency services told us that they have been inundated with immediate request for ambulance services.

Sources on the ground are suggesting that somehow the quarantine has breached and that the undead are now moving freely throughout several regions of Belfast. A source inside the police department has told us that within 24 hours it is likely there will be a military checkpoint on the roads in and out of Belfast and all non essential entry into Belfast will be denied.

Evacuation
The residents in the areas now marked as unsafe are at this time, being evacuated to the outskirts of Belfast and those with relatives or friends that live outside of Belfast are being urged to seek refuge with them. The panic on the ground has caused minor rioting and looting and at least 4 people have been arrested and taken into police custody this evening

It’s also been confirmed that local buses and trains into the city will be suspended until further notice in order to prevent the possible spreading of the Necro-Mortosis infection beyond Belfast. Transport firms are calling this an unnecessary move, but as of this evening there were no bus services operating within Belfast.

Sources are also confirming that all air traffic has been diverted to different airports and the airport has been closed

Remain Calm
All this comes a little over 72 hours after Police spokesperson John Lennighan had issued a statement saying he hoped the quarantined would be lifted by 26th August. As we went to press, ZWN have not been able to obtain a comment from Mr Lennighan, but it has been suggested that he will make a statement imminently regarding the status of the quarantine.

The police and local MP's have urged the people of Belfast to remain calm and have asked those that are been evacuated to make sure they secure there houses and leave in an orderly fashion. Anyone without their own transport has been asked to remain in there houses and wait for the military, who will guide them to a bus that will take them to one of the designated safety zones.
