'Level 'B' Outbreak' Declared in Belfast.
Belfast, N. Ireland, UK

Panic, confusion and fear has gripped Belfast tonight. It seems that the hardest part of this unexpected resurgence of undead activity, is disseminating fact from fiction

Officially, the escalation of events is due to a small outbreak of reanimate activity reported in the Shandon Park area. A group of 7 infected's were seen hearding* in the area. Soldiers already stationed at the militarized quarantine zone around the Harland & Wolff shipping yard were quickly dispatched to suppress and neutralize the undead.

Second incident
The official account also describes an incident on nearby Ballygowan Road, where a reanimate was reported to be trying to gain entry into a residential home. According to home owner and witness Kerry Fields, the reanimate was forcibly using it's body to try and break through the door, "We called Police but while we waited for them, we all went upstairs and opened the windows, we threw anything we could get our hands on at it. We dropped a microwave oven in the end and it landed on it's head and that was that."

Other reports
Adding to the overall confusion of information has been many reports and blogs from the area claiming different and sometimes conflicting accounts of the situation. This has heightened the fear and panic within the city. Added to this yesterdays extraordinary decision by Belfast Transport Authority to suspend all public transport to and from the city, and the people of Belfast are seemingly left in the dark and to their own devises.

Incident denied
A report to local radio station BFBS of a reanimate attack resulting in several injuries in Donegall Road has been denied by the Police, along with similar reports along the Royal Victoria Hospital area.

Checkpoints established
There has also been an unwelcome return to military checkpoints within the city, a stark reminder of this cities troubled history. However, this time the soldiers task is ultimately more sever than checking bags and cars for suspicious activity. This time no one is allowed through the checkpoints unless they first agree to take an onsite test for Necro-Mortosis. To many eyes this is the first stage of a city wide quarantine.

Police spokesperson John Lennighan, who was vocal throughout the initial quarantine of Harland & Wolff shipping yard has apparently been replaced by Major Rheese Collingwood as the voice of operations.

Airport open
Despite earlier reports, Belfast airport remains open. However, long waits are expected before boarding. All passengers must first take a voluntary Necro-Mortosis test. No commercial inbound flights are currently operable.
