France's 'Zombie Eradication Force,' (ZEF) a frontline defense against undead attacks on the French mainland and the French/Spanish border, returned to work today following a 36 day strike.
The 'ZEF' is a controversial but vital private security force. Trained by the government, whilst funded through private enterprise.
They voted to strike in early September, following months of requests for better pay, equipments and death benefits for family members.
End to strike
Votes to end the strike were returned in all union meetings. Initial figures indicated the strike was coming to an end after negotiations opened Wednesday.
"We think a dynamic return to work has begun," ZEF spokesman Jean Fournier said.
Since the strike began, France has seen an alarming increase in recorded attacks by undead reanimates. Particularly along the border with Spain.
Reanimate attacks are thought to be responsible for at least 84 deaths and confirmed infections since the strike began. In many cases, local police and private citizens have had to band together to protect their homes and businesses.
As the death toll rose, the government faced increasing criticism from many quarters, as it failed to replace ZEF protected 'zombie hot spots' with national guard troops.
Amid widespread discontent, several key emergency services also threatened solidarity with the striking ZEF. This is thought to have been the catalyst that spurred this weeks negotiations between ZEF representatives and the government of France.
Details of concessions made by the government have not been made public at this time, but a ZEF spokesperson said that they were productive and all members were satisfied with the result.
