New French President vows to fight virus. Keep borders open
Paris, France
Posted: May 7th. 2007

France's new president elect, conservative Nicolas Sarkozy has stressed that France will be a "major force in the combat and eradication of the terrible Necro-Mortosis virus that has already ravaged much of eastern and central europe."

The defeated socialist party has warned that Sarkozy will exacerbate the tensions already prevalent within Frances immigrant youth by closing borders and enforcing stringent deportation rules. However, Sarkozy's impromptu comments to a ZWN reporter today seemed to assuage this fear among many independents.

Regardless, as a show of frustration and protest there were many trouble spots and riots throughout parts of france sunday as masked youths clashed with riot police in both Paris and Lyon. Amongst the trouble spots were Argenteuil, a flashpoint of riots in 2005 agitated by Sarkozy's hardline stance as then interior minister and his now infamous"scum" jibe directed at youngsters.

Sarkozy has repeatedly underlined his commitment to keep the 'chunnel' - the channel tunnel linking France to Great Britain open. British Prime Minister Tony Blair has also stressed a desire to keep this vital lifeline open. See archive report here. However, Blair is expected to announce his stepping down from office within the next few day. Britains rival Conservitive party has expressed an interest in closing the chunnel if the current undead situation worsens.
