'Sewer Zombie' or Paranormal Phenomenon in UK Tunnel?

Workers at Britain's Southern Water's treatment plant in Eastbourne, East Sussex, are reporting what they describe as a "humanoid figure" or "zombie" that follows them as they work in the extensive network of underground tunnels.

So concerned are they that many either "dread" or refuse to work the night shift. It all came to the attention of the press when Mark Wey, a sewage treatment worker, got permission from his bosses to hire a paranormal investigator to launch an investigation in hopes of identifying the shadowy stalker.

Although parapsychologist Michael Kingscote, hired by Mark Wey, identified certain paranormal hotspots within the sewage system, no positive conclusion was made.

ZWN Science Editor Nancy Chan comments in her 'Lifeline' column :
"It seems a rather large leap to suggest a paranormal apparition. I think it's more likely an undead victim, a mortosis sufferer, who perhaps was secluded down there for a reason we may never know. Perhaps for his/her own safety or that of others? There have not been any significant Necro-Mortosis outbreaks in the East Sussex region. But these things do have a way of flaring up out of nowhere."

East Sussex Police spokesperson Ian Trinder released the following statement: "We are aware of the current news reports, and are monitoring the situation. A request for Hazmat assistance has been made and steps are underway to sweep the tunnels with armed personal. Until then, all worker activity must be performed with an armed security presence."
