Radio
contact regained with 'Horizon Dawn'
- Report of undead attacks, passenger riots. |
| At approximately 8:15am this morning, radio contact was made with the stricken Goldray and Godding cruise ship - 'Horizon Dawn'. A spokesperson
for the California cruise line informed the gathered press that Deck
officer Anthony Speers held a five minute radio conversation with
Naval officials aboard the Guided
missile Destroyer USS Ardene.
The Ardene had been dispatched to lend assistance, and had rendezvoused
with the Horizon Dawn at 6:00am this morning. Many details of the conversation with Officer Speers have not been released at this point, much to the frustration of anxiously waiting families. However, a ZWN source close to the situation has reported that Deck Officer Speers is now in charge of the cruise ship. This would prompt the inevitable question as to the whereabouts and well being of Captain Fenton. The source also said that there was 'large scale unrest and panic' amongst the passengers, resulting in several unconfirmed altercations with crew members attempting to suppress the outbreak and render calm. The last communication from Captain Fenton, was Friday June 29th. When he reported an outbreak of undead on decks 5 (Helios deck) and 6 (Surya deck). He spoke of plans to attempt to contain the infestation by sealing the decks. No effort has been made by the USS Ardene to board the cruise liner. Both vessels are continuing on a North Easterly course. The 'Horizon Dawn' has 12 decks (including the engine room level), 380 cabins, 1240 guest capacity. It was commissioned in 1998 and built at Oostende, Belgium. Related
