World Health Authority Outlines Strategy For 2010

The World Health Authority met in Geneva today for the first of a three day conference on Necro-Mortosis combatative strategy.

According to a WHO press release, the core of the meetings, titled: 'To quantify and apply public health principles to the Mortosis epidemic' is to reestablish a more 'grass roots' approach to combating the virus.

The WHO has created a new website dedicated to the explanation and education of Necro-Mortosis and to offer real word advice for people who are concerned about the virus.

A transcript of the main points of todays meeting are as follows:

In it's rapid expansion since first discovery in 2006, Necro-Mortosis infection has killed more than 3 million people world wide. A comprehensive public health approach that has stopped other epidemics has yet to be used to address this virus. When Mortosis infection first emerged among stigmatized populations (low income and poverty level people, injection-drug users, and immigrants from developing countries), the discriminatory responses ranged from descriptions of Mortosis as "retribution" to violence and proposals for quarantine, universal mandatory testing, and instantaneous annexing of infected persons.

This response, fueled by a neglect in many countries to educate the populous about the realities of the virus, led to Mortosis exceptionalism, an approach that advocated both for special resources and increased funding but also against the application of standard, fundamental methods of disease control. The need for extra resources remains essential, but the failure to apply standard disease-control methods underlines society's inability to control the epidemic.

Apart from the, as yet unfulfilled promise of the XL-6 inhibitor , there is a non availability of drugs that can effectively treat Mortosis infection and limited progress on anti discrimination initiatives, that lead society to finally adopt traditional disease-control principles and proven interventions that can identify infected persons, interrupt transmission, ensure treatment and case management, and monitor infection and control efforts throughout the population.

Doing so will have political and economic ramifications of course. The political costs will include offending both sides of the political spectrum: hard line conservatives who oppose the implementation of effective prevention programs, including the widespread availability of testing kits, and ultra liberals who oppose the expansion of Mortosis testing, and notification of the families of infected persons (also known as 'family counseling and referral services'), and what some see as inappropriate EMQ (enforced medicalized quarantine) as the response to the epidemic.

The financial costs, particularly to improve population-wide case management and notification of local authorities, would be substantial. But the human and economic costs of failing to adopt a balanced and comprehensive public health approach are much higher.

Early diagnosis is essential. Nearly 20% of all contracted Mortosis sufferers are unaware that they have the virus until symptoms develop. Voluntary Mortosis screening and linkage to care should become a normal part of medical practice, similar to screening for other treatable conditions, such as high cholesterol levels, hypertension, diabetes, and breast cancer. Screening and linkage to care are especially important in communities with a high prevalence of Mortosis infection.

It took nearly 6 months before Necro-Mortosis was reportable through the mainstream throughout the eastern european and middle eastern communities. And in China reporting is still not universal and the internationally condemned practice of 'Ghetto starving' continues. Although information on the Mortosis virus and viral loads is collected in most jurisdictions, monitoring this data to determine patients' location and fate is rare.

Publicly funded case management, treatment, and service systems are not effectively coordinated to ensure a continuum of care for the families of those isolated by quarantine.

Effective population-based monitoring and evaluation would track not only the incidence, prevalence, and mortality of Mortosis, but also indicators of the interruption of transmission, such as the use of voluntary testing, travel restrictions, linkage to quarantine of those who test positive, and success at reducing viral load when annexing of undead 'Hot zones' apply.
