A surprise boom to the auto maker 'after market' industry seems to be emerging in the form of custom protected road vehicles.
Designed to protect the occupants from small to medium level zombie confrontations, these customized hybrids of SUV's and armored cars are proving to be so popular that demand is far exceeding supply.
Since the 'Siege of Jerusalem' in 2007, The trend amongst the oil rich Arab emirates sheiks, has been to commission armored improvements to their personal cars. Although no major reports of undead confrontations in major middle eastern cities have emerged since 2007, the mear possibility of one seems to be enough to keep the after market auto protection business thriving.
European market emerges
Since the trend began, a growing demand from European heads of state and elite society has cultivated a thriving business of customizations that include armor plating, 'run flat' tires that will allow evasive action for up to 30 miles on flat tires, and 8 layer shatter proof glass. Each car also includes an extensive survival kit, emergency broadcast radio, small arms and spare ammunition, and a lightweight body suit that will provide temporary protection in the event that an occupant needs to exit the vehicle.
 The value of these vehicles was probably best demonstrated in February, 2010. Soviet President of the Russian Federation, Dmitry Medvedev (left) and a small guard were confronted and eventually trapped for 17 hours by an unexpected undead surge in the Republic of Mordovia .
His state issued, armored personal carrier is credited with saving his own life along with those of his five man entourage. Returning from an official function, Medvedev's personal carrier
became separated from his motorcade. They had run directly into a roaming herd of 50-100 undead. Confusion and panic confounded the situation when many members of his armed protection unit deserted their posts and ran.
Medvedev and his small crew managed to hold a defensive position in the armored car throughout the night and well into the next day, until help eventually arrived . |
